Photos and verified buyers
Let shoppers add photos to reviews and mark the ones from confirmed purchasers, so social proof is real.

Two things make reviews persuasive: real photos, and knowing the reviewer actually bought the item. Both are settings on the Reviews page.
Photos
With photo uploads on, shoppers can attach images to a review. They are downscaled in the browser before upload to keep them light, and shown as a gallery on the review. Deleting a review also deletes its photos.
Verified buyers
A review from a shopper whose order contains the product gets a Verified buyer badge. You can go further and require verification - only confirmed buyers may submit - while everyone can still read reviews.
Verifying a buyer reads the shopper's orders, which needs the read-orders permission approved for your store. Without it, reviews still work; they just will not carry the verified badge.
